Harita Koya
Harita Koya is a final-year masters student at Smith College School for Social Work, where she is training to be a psychodynamic psychotherapist. She is particularly interested in disability justice, queer/trans health, immigrant experiences, racial identity, and working with adolescents and young adults. Harita is currently a clinical intern at Wellesley College’s Counseling Center and previously interned at Ivy Street School, a therapeutic high school in Brookline.
Harita completed her BA at NYU, where she concentrated in South Asian Studies and minored in Art History (and interned at the Metropolitan Museum of Art). She grew up in Texas and is still holding out hope that the Dallas Cowboys will win the Super Bowl sometime this millennium.
Before becoming a resident scholar, Harita served as a resident tutor at Mxther for three years and has loved being a part of the House community. She enjoys hanging out at Coffeebar, spending time in the courtyard, and breaking bread with fellow Mxtherites. In her free time, she enjoys reading (especially speculative fiction and poetry), playing board and video games, crafting, and drinking tea.
