Hometown: New York, NY
Current Work: Law Student, Harvard Law School

Hi everyone! I am from New York City, and graduated from Harvard College (as a Mather resident) in 2020 with a History degree. I worked for a year as a paralegal before starting at Harvard Law School in the fall of 2021. In my free time, I love to run along the Charles, to read fiction, and to play boardgames. Please get in touch if you'd like to chat about anything law school-related, or anything else!

Eliza WiantEliza Wiant

Hi Mather friends. I'm Eliza, a Harvard college alum! I spend most of my time in Washington DC where I work to elect candidates I believe in. I fell in love with campaigns after helping flip the House blue in 2018, and have since worked on races at the mayoral, congressional, senatorial, and presidential level. Somehow, I graduated Harvard without ever attending an IOP event.

When I’m not on the campaign trail, I’m leading queer book club, shaking cocktails behind the bar, struggling with the NYT crossword, and planning my next backpacking trip. I’m excited to be part of the Mather community!

Emmanouela  Rantsiou

I am a physicist, with a PhD in astrophysics, and an extreme curiosity in (non-human) animal cognition and behaviour. I joined Maha’s SoftMath Lab on September 2022 to finally pursue my long-standing interest in working on animal - and in particular elephant - communication. (Fine) Food, music, and perfumery are things I can really get obsessed about. I am currently trying to pick-up woodworking skills and I am an avid metal fan. Looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible. If you feel like you need to spend some time with a dog, you can choose to meet me together with my dog Billy: he is a 12-year old, low-energy, relaxed guy who likes making human friends.

Hometown: San Diego, CA
Current Work: PhD in Clinical Psychology, Catholic University

Hello! My name is Genesis and I first called Mather my home as an undergrad, and I’m thrilled to be back as a non-resident tutor. I’m originally from San Diego and currently finishing up my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Catholic University. I’m really interested in helping teens thrive, and the intersection between psychology and education (drawing from my time at HGSE). I’ve helped with the First-Gen and Spanish tables in the house in the past, and am happy to connect about these and any other topics such as psychology, college life, Mexican food recipes, etc. Looking forward to meeting you all around the house!

Hassaan Hassaan Shahawy

Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
Current Work: Lecturer, Harvard Law School

I was born and raised in Los Angeles to an Egyptian, Muslim family. I studied History and Near Eastern Studies as an undergraduate at Harvard College (Mather Class of 2016), went to Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship for a Masters and PhD in Islamic Law, then returned to study at Harvard Law School (Class of 2022), where I'm now a Fellow and Lecturer. Fun fact: my wife Iman is also a non-resident tutor and was also in Mather (Class of 2018). I'm happy to talk about history, law, and deciding not to be pre-med (I finished the pre-med requirements and was studying for the MCAT when I switched). I'm also happy to help with applications for fellowships or law school.

ImanIman  Masmoudi

Iman is a third-year law student at Harvard. She graduated from the College (and Mather house!) in 2018 as a Social Studies concentrator. She is also the founder of an ethical clothing cooperative called Tuniq, and she completed an MPhil at the University of Cambridge in Classical Islamic History. Talk to Iman about anything you'd like, but most especially alternative career paths, social entrepreneurship, pre-law, and religious/spiritual life! She is excited to meet you all and available to chat.

MacKenzie

Mackenzie Thomas

Current Work: Master's Student, Harvard Kennedy School

Hey y’all! I’m Mackenzie (or Mack) and after hearing about Mather for years from a former tutor, I'm excited to be joining the family with my partner, Eliza! I’m coming to Harvard as a Mid-Career Master’s student at the Kennedy School where I’m digging deeper into responsibility in AI, media representation and LGBTQ+ led political movements.

For the past ten years, I’ve been working at Google, where I’ve led efforts on product equity and marketing inclusion. Most importantly, I’m known amongst my friends for organizing phone banks, hosting queer dinner parties, being overly competitive at word games and pickleball, and cheering on the UWNST and UNC Tar Heels. Hope to bring some joy, thoughtful conversation, and maybe even some healthy competition to Mather this year!

Pablo2Pablo  Reimers

Current Work: PhD Student in Neuroscience, Harvard Medical School

Hi all!
I'm Pablo, a 4th year grad student in the neuroscience program over at the med school. I graduated Mather in 2019 and am stoked to be involved still as an NRT! While at school I concentrated in neuro, played on Red Line (the ultimate frisbee team), did a bunch of teaching stuff, and helped out in the house through HoCo. Nowadays I still study neuro, coach Red Line, and do a bunch of teaching stuff :) Happy to talk about any of the above, or anything else, would love to hear from you!

SophieSophie  Feldman

Hometown: MS
Current Work: Consultant, Guidehouse Boston's State and Local Government Team

Hi Mxther! It’s a pleasure to rejoin this wonderful community as an NRT, only a few months after my own graduation last May. I am currently a first year Consultant at Guidehouse Boston’s State and Local Government Team, but while at Harvard, I concentrated in Social Studies with a Linguistics secondary. As a student in Mxther, I could typically be found working in both writing and thesis table, hanging out in the gym, and climbing the many stairs of the tower. If you’re interested in resume or cover letter advice, someone to talk to about your thesis, or a workout or wellness buddy, I’d love to chat!

Paul Kaneelil HeadshotPaul Kaneelil

Hey everyone! I'm a postdoctoral fellow in SEAS. I did my PhD at Princeton studying fluid mechanics problems where I spent way too much time staring at drops. I'm passionate about teaching and education, and served as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at Princeton. Outside of work, I love to play basketball and soccer, watch nature documentaries, and eat lots of ice cream.
